Rayon Scarves Finished at Last!

You know it will be iridescent when you cut the cloth off the loom, and even before the finishing (mending, washing, and pressing) has begun, the raw cloth smiles at you like this:

And after the finishing, it smiles again:

The weave has relaxed and evened out, the floats do what floats do, grouping themselves together, the plain weave is much smoother, and the pressing enhances the luster.

Scarf #5, on the other hand, although I confess I haven't seen it in daylight since doing the finishing yesterday evening, looks less iridescent. Why? Less contrast in hue or value? Don't know. If the appearance has changed when I go up to the studio after lunch, you will hear the cheering from here.

Both scarves are beautiful. The green scarf reminds me of a taffeta skirt I had as a child--pure elegance from Bergdorf Goodman in NYC.
