The vocal group Chanticleer is in the process of performing at all of the historic California Missions. On Sunday, we attended their performance at Mission San Miguel Archangel, just a short distance north of Paso Robles.
The Chanticleer site describes the Mission Road project. If you are anywhere near El Camino Real and the missions located along its route, and if you love a capella singing as much as I do, this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. Hearing Baroque music composed by Spanish and Mexican musicians alive during the founding of the missions, in the chapels where it was intended to be performed, is an ethereal experience. And of course, the Chanticleer voices are glorious.
