Water Series Hangings, Posing for the Camera

The application deadline for the 2010 ACC show season is Friday the 31st, so I've been hemming and pressing the hangings. DH helped by assembling, staining, and finishing some hanging rods made of very thin dowels with wood beads on the ends as finials. I made a hanging cord by plying groups of the warp yarns (good thing I had plenty of leftovers). Very simple, so as not to distract the viewer from the hangings. The photos were taken today, and the images edited to suit the requirements of the online jurying service that ACC uses.

Here they are, in all their glory:

Isn't it amazing and wonderful that they all came off the same warp?

I'm planning to name them after seas, as in, Caspian, Baltic, Aegean, etc. Some look placid, others stormy. I hope I've matched the images to the names appropriately!

It was a challenge to reposition the studio flash units for each piece. Turns out each one shows the several design lines best from different angles, so the lights have to be in exactly the right place to capture what I want captured. I have no idea how these will fare with the ACC jury, and I won't know until late this year. "Ya pays yer money, and takes yer chances!"

They are all beautiful, but I'm particularly fond of the top one. It looks like ripples spreading from tossed pebbles.
