Kirilla

Today's stop was the town of Kirilla, home of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. As usual, my favorite part of the day wasn't necessarily the featured activity.

Along with the monastery, we visited a restoration center where workmen are constructing a replica of one of the original buildings of Fort Ross in California. The Fort was one of the first European settlements in CA.

Then we visited the local school, where the kids put on a performance for us- a skit, singing, and other entertainments, mostly in English! Mind you, this is summer holidays,and they were giving up valuable free time!
