Epicurean Delights

We're definitely eating well on this trip. This area is tropical fruit heaven. My mantra is cheremoya, lychee, dragon fruit, custard fruit, rambutan, along with the more familiar mango, papaya, and pineapple.

We're staying in the Sofitel Pokkeethra in Siem Reap, the town nearest the Angkor temple complex, and this is what the breakfast buffet looks like:

And that's just the cold food sections!

Last night we ate out at a Cambodian restaurant, and the set menu consisted of the following: fish soup with lotus root, tomato, winter melon, pineapple, tamarind juice & egg; salad of beef marinated in lemon, lemongrass, galangal and herbs, with mixed fresh vegetables;chicken on skewer with onion, pepper, pineapple, tomato with black pepper dipping sauce;wok fried beef with sweet chili and hot basil; calamari and shrimp saute in red curry and herbs; black sticky rice with mixed fruit marmelade. Yum!
