Open Studios, Weekend #1

The visitor traffic was light the entire weekend, probably because there are many other events going on locally - Pioneer Days in Paso Robles, Centennial celebrations in Atascadero, a Wine Harvest Week all over the Paso Robles viticultural area, a Garden Festival tour, etc. - so we have lots of competition.

DH sold a few pieces of turned wood (rolling pins and other kitchen items were popular) and I sold one scrunch-dyed scarf, and then, just before closing time today, a woman came into my studio (her husband, another woodturner, was busy talking wood with DH) and immediately fell in love with one piece. She looked at everything (and the studio is full to the brim of things to look at - jacquard work, dobby scarves, hand-knits and hand-dyes) but her heart was won by the Ice and Reflections piece.

She said she was looking for something calm and soothing to hang in her bedroom, and she simply had to take that piece home with her. That definitely made up for the slow weekend!

I can understand why your customer just had to have the piece. Sandra, if I had been there she would have had to fight me for it. Lovely simply lovely.
