Pink Towel Warp Threaded - Finally!

After quite a long hiatus from the studio (for various reasons - shows, guests, etc.) I finally managed to finish threading the pink towel warp.

Tomorrow I'll sley the reed and tie the warp onto the apron. Then begins a dye marathon. I've been winding skeins of 30/2 mercerized cotton for weft, along with very small skeins of 40/2 mercerized cotton for weft in the hems.

Each hoop in the picture above carries a skein of 30/2 for three towels' worth of weft for the design area, plus a very small skein of 40/2, which will be the [hopefully matching] hems for those 3 towels.

So far, I've got 5 hoops done, which makes 15 towels. I have remnants of two colors left over from the previous towel warps that will bring the total up to 17, the calculated number on the warp.

I'll scour the yarn tomorrow, and begin the dye process on Monday. That's the plan, anyway. Pictures to follow.

Found your blog today. It is marvellous. Interesting to look how other weavers work. I'm going to weave damask for the first time in a couple of weeks in a workshop.
