Just back from a "field trip" to the Fowler Museum on the UCLA campus with the Designing Weavers, a textile group I'm a member of, where we saw Grass Roots: African Origins of an American Art, as well as several accompanying, related exhibits. If you're in the Los Angeles area, don't miss it. The basketry of the Carolina lowlands is truly wonderful - traditional yet very inventive.
One of the artists featured in the exhibit at the Fowler, Mary Jackson, regularly exhibits at the Smithsonian Craft Show.you can see more images of her work on their website.
