Those Thrums

In a comment on the previous post, Deanna suggested that the thrums are a good length for kumihimo. Okay, I'll keep them instead of composting them. (Deanna, do you need any black 10/2 mercerized cotton thrums for your kumihimo projects? There's a lot more of 'em than I'm likely to use...)

Come to think of it, I needed a good excuse to ask DH to build me a marudai, right? I'll be vending at the Conference of Northern California Handweavers in March, and I'm sure there will be at least one vendor there with kumihimo equipment, so DH can see a marudai up close and personal to get construction ideas.

On the progress front, the warp is resleyed at 5 ends per dent in a 12-dent reed, for 60 epi. I've cranked the modules as close together as they'll go without inter-module interference. The modules are now set for something wider than 60 epi. Here's hoping the loom will forgive me for the difference between beam width, heddle width, and reed width, which together form a slight oval shape instead of a perfect rectangle.

Tomorrow, I'll tie the warp onto the apron, and begin weaving. With this warp, I'll be able to post pictures of everything I weave - no confidential projects this time.
