Christmastime Knitting

Since the looms are not exactly portable, what I bring along to do during the few idle moments at the in-laws over the holiday weekend is knitting.

This is definitely a stash-reduction effort. What I've been working on is knit with two strands - one a thick silk singles, space-dyed in turquoise, purple, and fuchsia, the other a brushed mohair in a mix of reds and purples:

The knitted fabric is thick, soft, and fuzzy:

There were enough idle moments (mostly when the rest of the family were watching football) to finish the knitting:

The finished scarf is about 5 inches wide, and ends in points and tassels. It goes into inventory as soon as I trim the longer tassel so they match :-)

The mohair is very nearly used up, but I probably have enough of the silk yarn to knit another long narrow scarf. I'll measure it before I begin! Come to think of it, there's some turquoise mohair in the stash that might work with the silk...

Gotta love knitting to use up those bits of yarn that are too long to toss, too short to weave. :)

Hope you're having a great holiday season.

Cheers,
Laura
