Mixed Silk Warp

The next warp to be beamed on the dobby loom is a recycling project. I gathered up all the spools and cones of silk leftovers in shades of blue, green, and violet. The sizes range from 30/2 NM to 120/2 NM, with most being 60/2. The skinnier yarns I'm doubling, to get more consistency. The cloth will be woven in plain weave at 32-34 epi, with occational picks of a lycra blend yarn so the finished cloth will collapse into pleats and wrinkles.

At the point I took the photo, I'd completed 4 sections (out of 15 total):

For those of you in the States, I hope you're all having a lovely Fourth of July weekend. We're off to watch the fireworks in Paso Robles after dinner. For those for whom the Fourth of July has no special significance, I hope you've had a lovely weekend wherever you are!
