Life on the Farm

The solar farm, that is. For several days, installers have been stomping around on the second story roof, putting in support structure and wiring for a solar array.

This morning, the first of the panels were installed:

By the end of the day, all the panels were in place:

The electrical boxes were attached to the wall and connected to the power grid.

DH cheered when the electric meter began to run backward. Good old PG&E, in all their wisdom, gave us a "smart" meter not too long ago. Unfortunately the software at the PG&E end doesn't know about minus signs, so until they come and replace the smart meter with a stupid old-style meter, they will bill us for the power we give them (during the day) as well as the power we use (at night)! So the system won't be turned on for real quite yet.......

In fiber news, I've finished tying knots, and am threading the newly installed modules now. Two down, two to go.

Gracie has been hiding at the back of the closet for the duration.
