Timeless Textiles

The opening reception of the Designing Weavers exhibit Timeless Textiles was yesterday afternoon. The exhibit will be open through July 28, at the Studio Channel Islands Art Center, 2221 Ventura Blvd in Camarillo, CA (about an hour by car from Los Angeles or Long Beach).

The show is headlined by this piece by Michael Rohde, consisting of 20 small wedge-weave tapestries in related colors:

The show is incredibly diverse - including every fiber technique from this ethereal basket by Heasoon Rhee:

to this vessel made entirely of recycled materials by Julie Kornblum:

There's also a gem of a basket by Fern Benson, with a twined shape interacting with found metal:

and this piece by Maureen Cox made of interlaced strips of rust-dyed silk with stitching and surface design:

as well as four pieces by yours truly, including these two:

If you're in the area, whether for Convergence or other events, this show is definitely worth a visit!

Wow, that does look like a fantastic show. I love the way you have presented those weavings, too.
