Happy New Year!

Well, almost. We celebrate with friends in Morro Bay, but the poppers pop and the whistles whistle at the same time as on the East Coast (at 9:00pm Pacific Time), meaning we can be home in bed by 10:00pm.

Dinner is always Dungeness Crab, in season on the West Coast starting in mid-to-late-December. I can only hope that you all were treated to such a divine meal  - fresh crab, sourdough bread, salad, and of course lots of good California wine.

Here's the table before the devastation began, and the empty bowls rapidly filled with shreds of crab shells:

Here's to a new year filled with friends, good food, and whatever makes you happy.

I love the part about celebrating on Eastern time so that you can be home by 10. What a beautiful table! Yum.
