The Groom and the Bride

After some major problems with the jacquard loom (I should never have let it take such a long holiday) I'm chugging away on the woven portrait. Here's the groom, and the very edge of the bride:


















I managed to get hints of the striped trousers, and the difference in texture between them and the solid grey jacket.

A few hundred picks later, the bride had appeared:


















There's a hint of the lace patterning of the outer layer of the skirt - thank heavens! It's a beautiful fabric, and the lace shows up most strongly at the lower left of the photo, which must be where the flash wasn't so strong when the photo was taken. Or maybe where the angle of the cloth reflected the flash differently. In any case, I should be able to finish the weaving tomorrow, cut it off the loom, and do the finishing.
