The wildflowers endemic to this area are busy proving that it's really Spring. First the lupines:
And now the California poppies:
The poppies are mood-altering critters, just like yellow daffodils, because there's no way you can look at that cheerful color and NOT smile. DH planted about 100 daffodil bulbs in the Fall, and the flowers are just now fading, so I'm happy to have the poppies ready to take over the cheerleader job.
Not only that, but our cymbidium orchid is in a hurry to bloom. Normally, it should bloom later in the year - early summer - but this one spent the winter outdoors and apparently liked it, even though we got plenty of below-freezing nights.
It's got at least 8 flower spikes in various stages of development - the best we've had in the past was 3 or 4 a season. This is one happy orchid!

The picture of the cymbidium orchid belongs in your file of things to work on for jacquard, if it isn't there already. What a wonderful photo!
