I just finished sewing the last of the towel hems, pressed them, and took a photo before packing them away:
First, because my new little camera is so good with closeups, I zoomed in on the uppermost towel in the closer stack:
It's interesting to see at close range the effects of all the compound twills created by the tieup (3/1, 1/3, and 2/2, each interacting differently with the two warps).
The warp (running horizontally in this shot) is 24/2 mercerized cotton, and the weft is 30/2 unmercerized cotton. The finished cloth is soft and silky feeling, and will make very absorbent towels - perfect to use as hand towels, or to dry your best crystal glassware.......
