Threading in Progress

When I took this picture, I was just starting the 3rd module:

My back was getting stiff from sitting in one position, so I moved to the 24-shaft loom and started weaving away on Feathers #1. Here it is on its way onto the cloth storage beam at the back of the loom:

And here is the warp, after weaving a few picks of "trailer" at the end of the scarf, advancing the warp to the cutting line between scarves and weaving a few more picks of waste yarn, then advancing the warp again to account for the first fringe of the next scarf, and weaving yet another couple of picks of waste yarn:

A really exciting picture, right? The next scarf on the warp will have a warm buff/brown weft - can't wait to see how it interacts with the 3 warp colors.

Then I went back to the jacquard and did some more threading. I'm currently in the middle of the 4th module, so there's still a lot of ends to go.

I think I'm going to like having multiple, completely different projects going so I can switch between them at will.

A change is as good as a rest, right? :)

The scarves look great,

It just amazes me how quickly you got the jacquard loom set up and started weaving.

Love your feather scarves.

Hello, Steven,
I'm not weaving on the jacquard just yet. The AVL people were here a week ago reinstalling the modules, and I'm still threading (currently on the 6th module). The scarves are being woven on the 24-shaft loom, not the jacquard. You won't see photos of the jacquard work until next week at the earliest. There seem to be lots of other events that take time away from the threading process.....

I move between my split shed pick up rugs and my 24 shaft WDL. I like the shift in thinking between the two, when my body or mind gets stiff from one, off to the other I go.........Deb Mc
