It spent most of the year in the courtyard, except for the coldest nights, when all the courtyard-dwelling orchids moved into the garage for protection. These orchids don't like extended cold weather, although they're pretty tolerant of anything above freezing.
Most of the smaller varieties, however, don't like temperatures below the 50s (F) so they live indoors all winter and spend the summer on a balcony that is protected from direct sun and cool breezes.
Once the blooms open, they get treated to a spa vacation indoors, where we can enjoy them.
