The Latest Towel

I had cataract surgery yesterday morning on my left eye, and the experience, while not painful, took a huge toll in nervous energy, so the past 2 days were not terribly useful for textile production. I did begin to weave the next towel in the green towel series, but 2 inches (one 80-thread repeat) was about the maximum I could manage, and I stopped work and went downstairs to rest.

The eye looks like death warmed over - and that was never a flattering style for me. It'll take a few days for the redness to disappear and the new distance vision to emerge. I can already tell that eventually I'll be able to see more clearly at a distance than before - I've been near-sighted since age 8 - and it'll be interesting to see if my color perception has changed at all.

In any case, here's the towel draft, and the towel (such as it is) on the loom:

Keep in mind that I'm weaving with a warp that's lighter than the weft, so look at the draft as if it were inverted - black pixels for white, and vice versa.

Friends who have had cataract surgery have been very happy with it. Hope you will be, too.

How exciting - especially to gain the distance vision. I think you've earned a day or two of rest, though!

I agree you have indeed earned a rest. Love the latest towel, what a pretty design.
